Swahili Village

A friend and I went to Swahili Village in Newark, New Jersey. This restaurant is near the NJPAC convention center. They serve an African cuisine centered around Kenyan cuisine, with a diverse wine collection from South Africa. This is a fine-dining setting, and when I went, they had a live DJ who played various songs. The DJ had us bumping in our seats as we ate.

We got wings for appetizers, which I didn’t get to photograph because I ate them too fast, but they were delicious. To drink, I got the tropical splash, and I didn’t enjoy it. It was intense; I wanted something sweet. So I gave my drink to my friend and got the mango mojito, which was delicious. OMG, I’m craving one right now. Then, I ordered the GRILLED CHICKEN "KUKU CHOMA, with Kenyan-style jollof rice, greens, and fried plantains for the entree.

And FYI, I would suggest parking in the garage because I parked on one of the side streets and got a ticket but use your discretion. But, overall, I had a fantastic time, and I know you will too.
