Self-care hack

I recently started practicing a simple self-care hack. For this self-care hack, I use any scrub I have at home. Today I’m using an exfoliating scrub from @scent box.

Scent Box

Here is the hack:

Suppose I’m feeling bad about any residual negative emotions from the day. I put on a shower and begin to exfoliate using a body scrub. As I exfoliate my body, I begin to process my feelings. As I’m about to finish exfoliating, I say to myself:

✨I can not let the negativity that transpired today or this week affect my mood. I am in control of my life and choose not to allow negativity to phase me. I prefer to focus less on the bad and more on the great. I feel lighter and truly unaffected by outside forces. I choose not to react to negativity in a world designed to make me react. I am calm and renewed✨

I then open my eyes and watch as the scrub particles wash away along with what I felt bad about. You can do this process without the scrub, but for me, the scrub adds a visual layer by seeing the scrub flow down the drain. So I have a visual representation of the negativity also pouring down the drain. Practicing this has helped me feel more clear and renewed.

This hack is a practice to learn how to detach and let things go. It’s also more of a response to rid yourself of any residual negativity from the day or the week. More intensive healing work is necessary for deeper feelings that need to be processed. Please don’t hesitate to seek counsel for any more profound issues that need to be addressed.
