Day 17 of our 25 Days of Advent devotional series

We're back with Day 17 of our 25 Days of Advent devotional series. To Quickly recap, Advent is the preparation period for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. To prepare, we are partaking in daily devotionals until Christmas Day. With that said, let's jump right into today's devotional. 

 Let us readJohn 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

We can know some things about God just by observing the world. Everything that we see all around us is an expression of God’s love for us. We know that God is mighty and not made of anything created. We can see He is the Creator and holds all things together. We can learn about God this way, but we would honestly know God through encounters with Jesus. 

Jesus, the Word of God, made it possible to truly know God. John 1:14 says, 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Through Jesus, God has become knowable. We can meet God and interact with Him, know Him, and develop a friendship with Him. This is why we celebrate Christmas: God has come in human form to have that more profound relationship with us through Jesus Christ. It may be a lot to process, so meditate on today’s devotional and reflect on these questions.
