South Jazz Kitchen

Sister Adventures took us to this jazz restaurant called South Jazz Kitchen. I enjoyed the ambiance, and we could catch the live band, which was awesome. I was excited to see a live jazz band because I had never seen one before. The main singer was Emily Braden. She and the band performed an Etta James set, and Emily introduced us to songs by this artist, Etta Jones. The lead singer also performed one of her songs, which was a treat.

The food was not bad, but I had better-fried chicken and soul food. I enjoyed that the plates were enough for both of us to share. For our appetizer, we had deviled eggs and mac and cheese. It was my first time having deviled eggs, and they were delicious.

My sister and I shared a fried chicken meal for the entree and felt complete. The sweet potato and the greens were my favorite. The sweet potatoes were made with a nice crumble on top. That was 9/10. I enjoyed that. The greens were 7/10. The biscuit was 6/10. I felt Popeyes chicken with the hottie sauce tasted better, so I gave it 6/10. I will go back to see another band for the ambiance and to try something else on the menu.
